MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES

The meeting began at 3:30pm
1. The minutes from 12.6.10 were approved as written.
2. The Board discussed a complaint received about an outdoor wood boiler on Fairview Rd. at the Burkhart residence, it’s been there for about 4-5 years and has never been a real issue but this year the topography and the height of the smoke stack is causing a nuisance. The smoke from the boiler is getting into the home of the Montgomery’s and he’s concerned about the particulates. Mr. Montgomery was hoping to come up with some solutions to meet everyone’s needs. Shaylan offered to clean the stack which was last cleaned at the end of last season. If the problem persists, after Shaylan tries this, Mr. Montgomery will let the Board know. The Board also suggested making the stack taller. Shaylan noted that his is an earlier version of the boilers and does not
have a catalytic converter.
3. The Board reviewed their budget requests and level funded their clerk, the sanitary inspector, the VNA and the animal inspector. The Board discussed lowering their salaries as they haven’t had as much work as they had in the past. Each member gets $500 right now and agreed to lower it to $400 each.
4. The Board will meet again on the 24th of January since the 17th is a holiday at 3:30pm.
